Deep Sea Sampling II Kickoff Schrobenhausen

Participants from all 10 partnering institutions as well as from PTJ joined for the Deep Sea Sampling 2 kickoff Meeting in Schrobenhausen on September, 23th 2025. The roadmap for the next three years was discussed regarding the main focus points - and their possible impact on related issues.

With the second stage of Deep Sea sampling three main topics are focussed on: preparation of the technology for the demanding conditions of the deep sea environment - and especially in regarding to environmental issues -, technology development of the vertical approach as a proven mining technology and environmental monitoring and the monitoring and evaluation of mining impacts and further processing.

The presentations of every partner gave brief overview about the partners expertise, the main fields of work within the project, and the further impact on every partners individual research profile. Issues on diving technologies and environmental impact could be discussed and were addressed as important working packages, as well as a close connection to MiningImpact3.

With the roadmap fixed and the rough timeframe set the basic outline of the project is now clear - and Deep Sea Sampling is progressing into it's next phase.
